My New Nephew!

I'm happy to report that my sister, Lisa, gave birth to a healthy baby boy this morning in Henderson, NV. His name is William Phillip Johnson IV, but we will call him Liam. He is 7 lbs, 6 oz and 20.2 inches long. Both Lisa and Liam are doing well; however, they are both pretty darn worn out! I can't wait until Jimmy and I go to see them in October...I am excited to meet my very first nephew. Plus, he'll be excited to meet his favorite Aunt Krissy. I promise to post pictures as soon as I have them, although Lisa says that he's just perfect. I can't even describe how happy I am for Lisa and William! They are going to fantastic parents.

Jimmy and I are in San Antonio this weekend and I'm very happy to be here. We don't get to visit very often, so when we do...it's certainly a treat for us! I went with one of my bridesmaid's, Jackie, to look at dresses again today. I have my eyes set on one dress...it's just a matter of me pulling the trigger now. Jackie also tried on 2 bridesmaid dresses and there was one we really we both really liked. I'm sorry Lisa, but it's strapless :) She'll just have to hold herself in as good as she can!

I can't believe the wedding is now less than 8 months away...I'm getting very excited to be Mrs. Wright! Yay for impending married life!!

Okay, I'm off! Have a great weekend!

Granbury and the Bridal Show

This weekend Jimmy and I went to Granbury/Glen Rose to spend the weekend with his family. So..it was his Mom, Dad, sister (Kim), brother-in-law (Alfred) and his 3-year-old niece Kaitlyn. They picked the location because it's a good location between Dallas and where they live in the Austin area. It was a really great weekend! Sometimes family trips can be a little taxing, but this was only 2 days...we felt it was just the right amount of time. Last year when we went camping with my family in Yellowstone, 5 days was WAY too long. Kim, Alfred and Kaitlyn are officially in the wedding party. It was really important to Jimmy to ask them in person. I had a hard time holding my tongue, but I understand him not wanting to ask them over the phone. He's pretty sentimental like that :)
Here are a few highlights from the weekend:
  • At Fossil Rim, this huge wildlife ranch, we (Kim, Jimmy and I) got to hand feed a giraffe...from the car!
  • Dinosaur World was pretty anti-climactic, although Kaitlyn seemed to enjoy it, and the adults got a good kick out of the vague descriptions.
  • We found a Babe's Chicken in Granbury...Jimmy was a champ doing the Birthday/Chicken Dance!!
After we left Granbury, Jimmy and I went to the Arlington Bridal Show. We figured we could get one out of the way and maybe get some good ideas. I think it was pretty successful. I found a beautiful bouquet that is just the right amount of traditional mixed with a modern flair. Now, I just have to decide on a florist...suggestions would be welcomed! We also booked our photographer. We met with him a few weeks ago, but we took the time to see him at the Bridal Show and let him know that we were going to go with him. We felt really comfortable and think he's going to do a great job! Also, when we were talking with him today he asked Jimmy if he knew how lucky he is to have me...of course, Jimmy said yes. Gotta love a photographer who sucks up to the bride :)

This was the first of 3 weekends that we're gonna miss church which kinda makes me a little sad. I've decided that I want to take more of an active role in our congregation. Now that I've moved on to a new position and have more time for myself, I need to contribute more to my place of worship and fellow church members. I've been told that my name has come up in a few meetings to help with the content editing of our new Web site. I'd be more than happy to help make the site easy to read and informative at the same time. The next step would then to get us in a Sunday school class. We can't seem to find the motivation to go to church early and find a class that fits us. I guess we will just have to go and at least check out what they have to offer.

And now the job update...one week into it. I had a great first week! My boss is very laid-back, but does a great job at explaining things and pointing out what's most important about my position. Essentially I'm the liaison between my company (SearchDex) and the JC Penney Internet marketing team. My official title is Project Manager, but my role is multi-faceted. I'm truly enjoying the fact that I'm learning SO much everyday. It feels great to be able to take what I already know and take that knowledge to a whole new level. The idea of being intellectually challenged on a daily basis again is amazing! I truly believe I made the right decision to take this step and move forward in my professional career.

Here's to a great weekend and looking forward to another great week. (By the way...8 months, 8 days until our wedding!)

Tuesday is a good day!

Good evening and Happy Tuesday to all! I meant to write yesterday, but the day seemed to have gotten ahead of me. We had a great weekend! Of course, I had a 4 1/2 day weekend...but I wouldn't recommend too many of those. I was BORED! Nevertheless, I suffered through it :) On Saturday night, Jimmy and I went to dinner with a friend of mine from SA and his wife. They moved to the DFW area over 8 months ago and we hadn't seen them yet! We introduced Jay and Sarah to one of our favorite restaurants, Babe's Chicken...it has probably the greatest Chicken Fried Steak in North Texas (no joke)! It was so great to catch up with them...we're planning on it not being so long the next time we see them.

Today was day 2 of my new job. I think it's safe to say that I like it so far. One of my required characteristics of a new job was to slow down. I would like the chance to take a step back and enjoy life...I don't want to have to enjoy life when I'm not working. This job definitely allows me to slow down. They are starting me out slow on teaching me the ropes and I hope they aren't too slow in that process...I can handle a lot on my plate (and thrive on that).

For the next 3 weekends, Jimmy and I will be going out of town. We're spending this weekend with Jimmy's family in Granbury. I'm very excited to see them as we definitely don't get to see them as much as I'd like. Maybe one day we'll live closer to them. The following weekends we're going to Taylor for a wedding reception and then to SA for Jimmy's Fantasy Football draft (I'll be bridesmaids dress shopping). **I also get to see Meyer the weekend we're going to SA...she misses me and needs me, I don't blame her really.

If today is any indication as to how things will go from now on, bring it on...because it was a pretty darn good day!

New Beginnings

It has been a while, but in my defense, I've had a lot going on. The last few months/weeks, Jimmy and I had been talking about me getting a new job. Working for The Creative Group (TCG) has been great, but it certainly hasn't been without its stresses. While I am well aware that all jobs have a certain amount of stress, I kept wondering about the importance of a proper work/life balance...that was something that had started to slip away a while ago. So, I came into contact with some great people who set me up on a couple of interviews with a Search Engine Marketing company. To make a long story short, yesterday I accepted a position as an on-site project manager and I start on Monday!

So, here's to a new chapter in my life...as expected, there is a certain amount of nerves and anxiety, but I'm definitely excited about what's in store for me.
Let's see...what else is going on lately? Well...on Monday and Tuesday of this week, Jimmy's parents were in town so we could go to a few Yankees-Rangers games. Here are a few highlights (and lowlights) of the games, etc:

Monday

  • Our seats were 31 rows up from home plate
  • Joba Chamberlain pitched 5 decent innings and then was taken out due to shoulder pain. Come to find out, he has some tendinitis and was placed on the 15-day DL.
  • Hot dogs and beer for dinner...America's greatest meal!
  • Walk-off Grand Slam!! (Too bad it was for the wrong team...the Rangers)

Tuesday

  • Dinner at Big Joe's Pizza in Euless...that place is the only thing that makes the town of Euless worthwhile!
  • Our seats were 29 rows from home plate
  • The Yankees couldn't seem to get their bats to work until too late in the game...Richie Sexson did hit a Grand Slam...maybe he is moderately worth something
  • Jimmy caught a foul ball!! (It was coming straight for my face)
  • Yankees lost again...oh well, it looks like it's gonna be the first year since 1995 that they won't make the playoffs. No biggie though...my CUBBIES are gonna go far in the playoffs (fingers, toes and eyes crossed)

Now, I'm off to enjoy my 4 1/2 day weekend! I promise to give updates on the new job!
